Thought of the day…

What is the meaning of life? I was chatting about this in school a few months ago. I thought it was to continue the human race, but then Bobby pointed out that if the whole point was to continue with the human race, then what is the point of continuing?

  1. This was Camus’s answer – needs thinking through! “You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.”
    ― Albert Camus
I think it may include the idea that we can waste time looking always for something else or forward to another time, instead of appreciating what we are & have & can do right now.
    What do you think?

    • Yes, I do aggree, but it still doesn’t answer my question. I am thinking of asking the expert Professor J. Christ when I meet him. His calendar is full for the next 80 years though, so I may be waiting a while! Prayer Calendar going out today…

      • Just do not expect to find all the answers to life questions! Grasp it and live it … in Him. We do need to keep our eyes on Jesus but be aware of world around us, remembering that everyone is loved by God.

  2. Hi Jonathan,

    V good question/thought.

As a child – no idea what age—I came to the conclusion that the world would end i.e. cease to continue, when there were no longer any wars. As a ‘grown-up’ (debateable?) I guess I think much the same — why?

Because it means that all people everyone will know who they are and so won’t need to compete with one another — and who are they/we?

God’s beloved: children/women/men, all shapes/sizes/races/abilities etc, all made in God’s image, equally perfect, equally flawed and when God looks at us He sees that we are ‘indeed very good’. Gen 1.31

Which I guess means that the ‘meaning of life’ is for each of us to help one another to discover this truth??

    • Yes, and I think that wars are silly. I think that men should be able to be at peace with their brothers, and to be able to settle things using sensible talking. I think that the world will end when everyone has heard the news about Jesus, but also when wars have stopped. I was chatting in Homeroom about what it meant to be a citizen of Heaven. We came to the conclusion that you could not just be a citizen of Heaven, that you also would be a citizen of Earth. What do you think?
